UV-DTF Sticker Help
Application Instructions
Start with a squeaky-clean surface. Wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, then let it dry.
If there’s oil, dust, or even a smudge left behind, the adhesive won’t grab.
Best surfaces: Tumblers, glass, metal, and other clean, smooth, non-porous materials.
Flip the decal over and slowly peel away the white paper backing.
The design should stay on the clear sheet. If a piece doesn’t lift, lay the backing back down, rub that area, and try again.
Line it up on your item exactly where you want it.
UV DTF is sticky, so take your time. Once it’s down, repositioning isn’t easy.
Use a squeegee or a credit card and rub firmly across the entire design.
Start in the center and push outward to work out air and make sure every edge is sealed.
Slowly peel back the clear sheet, keeping it low and steady.
The design should stay behind, glossy and slightly raised.
If an edge lifts, lay the film back down, squeegee that spot again, and re-peel.
Pro Tip: Wet Application Method
For tricky placements, mist the surface with a few drops of dish soap in water. Apply the decal, slide it into position, then squeegee the liquid out. Let it dry overnight before peeling the film.
Common Issues
Nine times out of ten, it’s the surface.
If it isn’t squeaky clean and dry, the adhesive won’t grab.
Fix it:
- Wipe it again with alcohol
- Let it air dry completely
- Press it down firmly with the squeegee
Bubbles happen, especially on bigger decals.
Prevention: Work from the center out when you’re squeegeeing.
Fix it: If you see a stubborn bubble after the fact, poke a tiny hole with a pin and push the air out.
Using the soap + water hack (wet application) can help prevent bubbles in the first place.
If the edges are lifting:
- Press them back down firmly
- Let the item cure longer before use
Remember: UV DTF really loves smooth, hard surfaces. If you’re trying to stick it to something textured, it may never bond the way you want.
Care & Durability
UV DTF looks tough, but the dishwasher is brutal.
Keep tumblers and glassware out of the dishwasher.
A soft sponge with mild soap is all you need.
Skip steel wool and harsh cleaners. They’ll scratch the finish.
For best results, let your item sit at least 24 hours before heavy use.
That’s when the adhesive is fully set.
Best results on:
- Glass
- Stainless steel
- Coated tumblers
- Hard plastics
Rough or textured items may not hold up as well.
