Gang Sheets Help
What is a Gang Sheet?
A gang sheet lets you combine multiple designs onto a single print area, maximizing your transfer material and reducing cost per design. Instead of ordering each design separately, you arrange them together on one sheet and pay by the sheet size rather than per design.
This is especially cost-effective when you have multiple small designs, different sizes of the same design, or a mix of designs for one project.
Gang sheets work best when:
• You have multiple designs for one order
• You need the same design in different sizes (adult, youth, toddler)
• You’re doing small batch production
• You want to maximize material and minimize waste
For single large designs, ordering by size may be more straightforward.
Our Gang Sheet Builder
Our builder takes the guesswork out of gang sheet creation. Simply upload your designs and the builder handles:
• Smart spacing between designs for clean cutting
• Optimal margins from sheet edges
• Bin-packing algorithm that arranges designs efficiently
• Element spacing to prevent powder bridging
Just upload your designs, set your quantities and sizes, and the builder does the rest.
- Select your gang sheet size
- Upload your design files (PNG, PDF, AI, EPS)
- Set the print size for each design
- Set quantities if you need multiples
- Review the auto-generated layout
- Add to cart when you’re happy with the arrangement
File Format Best Practices
PNG is the best format for most designs. It supports transparency and maintains good quality for photographic elements and gradients.
Vector files (PDF, AI, EPS) are ideal when you have them. They maintain crisp, clean edges at any size and naturally handle transparent backgrounds.
For raster images (PNG, JPG), always use a minimum of 300 DPI at print size. Low-resolution images will appear pixelated and blurry when printed.
If you’re scaling up a design, make sure the source file is high enough resolution to support the larger size.
Always use transparent backgrounds – no white boxes around your designs. White backgrounds will print as white and show on the garment.
Save as PNG-24 for best transparency support. If your design has a white background, you’ll need to remove it before uploading.
Design Considerations
Avoid ultra-fine details smaller than 1pt – they won’t transfer cleanly and may not be visible on the final product.
Text should be at least 8pt for readability after transfer. Small text can become illegible, especially on textured fabrics.
Complex gradients and photographic images work great with DTF printing. Unlike screen printing, DTF handles smooth color transitions and detailed images without limitations.
Just make sure your source images are high resolution (300 DPI minimum).
While our system handles most color conversions, designing in CMYK when possible helps ensure colors print as expected. RGB designs may experience slight color shifts during printing.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
This is the most common issue we see. Low-resolution images result in blurry, pixelated prints that look unprofessional.
Always check your image resolution before uploading. At print size, you need at least 300 DPI for crisp results.
Designs with white backgrounds will print the white as part of the transfer, creating visible boxes around your artwork.
Always remove backgrounds and save with transparency (PNG-24). If you’re not sure how, most free image editors like Photopea or Canva can help.
Designing in RGB and expecting exact color matches can lead to disappointment. RGB has a wider color gamut than CMYK printing can reproduce.
For best results, design in CMYK or be prepared for slight color variations in highly saturated colors.
Gang Sheet Sizes
We offer gang sheets in a range of sizes to fit any project:
• 22″ x 12″ – Small projects, a few designs
• 22″ x 24″ – Small orders, 5-15 designs
• 22″ x 48″ – Medium orders, 15-30 designs
• 22″ x 60″ – Large orders
• Up to 22″ x 360″ – Maximum efficiency for bulk orders
All sheets are 22″ wide with variable lengths. Choose the size that best fits your design count and sizes.
Our builder will help you determine the optimal sheet size based on your designs. Start by uploading your artwork, and the builder will show you how much space you’re using.
Tip: It’s often more cost-effective to go slightly larger than to squeeze designs too tightly. A little extra room means cleaner cuts and easier handling.
